FASHION: A Fashionable Fourth!

GUEST CONTRIBUTOR: Vanessa

Vanessa and I got excited for this year's fourth and decided to make it a fashionable one!

Here's your guide to adding a little spice to your wardrobe as you get ready to paint the town RED, white and blue!

LOOK #1: Last year's 4th of July outfit will be making another appearance sometime this holiday weekend, it's just too comfy (and cute)! I tucked a blue relaxed-fit scoop-neck tank into a bright red cotton smocked skirt with scalloped eyelet trim.  The best thing about this top is that it's made of one of the coolest fabrics on the market: Cupro. It's a drapey fabric that looks and feels like silk, except it can be machine washed & dried! Bonus: it's eco-friendly! I finished off the look with some white shades and a funky red & white beaded necklace from India.

LOOK #2: I'm not sure you can wear this outfit without holding a martini in hand.  Tuck a form-fitting white halter into high-waisted blue shorts (the shorts belong to a set with the tank found in the first look) and make it pop with a long red beaded necklace.  To really give this look a vintage vibe, you could wear a giant black floppy hat.

LOOK #3: This look is great for a casual Friday at work or for at night out.  The blue blazer is a great addition to your closet and looks sharp when worn with this white tired ruffle tank and dark skinny jeans.  Wear with navy or red pumps or even ballet flats and complement with a red necklace.

LOOK #4: This cute look is perfect for a really hot day.  I paired a smocked baby-doll top with ripped denim shorts with lace embellishment. Finish-off the carefree look with brown accessories (I used wooden disc dangly earrings and wooden beaded wedges) to complement the earthy feel.

LOOK #5: This is the perfect All-American look, and it's great for work.  We paired a red and white striped camisole with a crisp white cardigan and blue pencil skirt.  You could substitute the tank for any red & white striped top, whether it's long or short-sleeved.  Kick on some red pumps and don't forget your pearls to complete this sweet look.

LOOK #6: This is a favorite 4th of July look of mine.  I bought this Aztec print romper at a boutique in downtown Miami in 2009, before you saw rompers and Aztec prints on every corner.  Needless to say, I'm glad this piece has remained on trend for a while, not that I'd ever retire it anyway.  I paired it with a cropped denim vest and gave the waist some shape with a fun belt.  I actually found the belt at a thrift store years ago, and the eagle buckle detail always suits my Americana/country looks.  I like to enhance the hippy vibe of this look by throwing on some wooden peace sign earrings and wearing my hair down in a curly mane.

Some looks I threw together for the holiday weekend!
Happy Fourth of July everyone!
