LEARN: 8 ways to creativity .

I don't know of anyone who wouldn't want to get a little more creative.  Whether it's with writing, style, or art.  Creativity can always add a little boost to the mundane.

I came across an article about "How to be creative"  in The Wall Street Journal and thought I'd share some tidbits with you...

1. I've got the blues for RED.

Surrounding yourself with the color BLUE leads to more relaxed and associative thinking, while RED makes people more alert and awake. (RED is also the color of confidence!)

2. Keep the dream alive.

Set your sights high.  Studies show people who daydream more score higher on various tests of creativity.

3. Laughter is the best medicine.

I'm sure you've heard that phrase before,
but now there's even more of a reason to smile.

When people are exposed to a short video of stand up comedy they solve about 20% more insight puzzles.   (Plus, a smile is always in style!)

6.  Work outside the box.

Step away from the cubicle.  Sometimes working in an open space will literally make you think outside the box.

7. Explore new sights.

Phuket, Thailand

I'm a huge advocate of traveling.  Even if you're on a budget, a "staycation" is a great way to get out and explore new things.  However, there's nothing like seeing the world outside your own.  Pinch your pennies, save up, and set your sights on going abroad.   You'll be glad you did.

8.  Big city living.

Downtown Raleigh

This confirms my belief that living in a big(ger) city is the way to go.  Scientists have found that moving from a small city to one that is twice as large leads inventors to produce, on average 15% more patents.  (Perhaps that statistic applies to my new interest in blogging... hmmm....)

Anyway, there you have it.
