MUSIC: i've got a rock & roll heart .

You know those nights where you just want to stay in because you're tired, but then... when you actually decide to go out you have the best time ever?

Saturday was that night.

We made our way to Durham to see Driftwood perform.

I was absolutely blown away.

Driftwood is a string band out of NY.  They're touring all the way to Miami and stopping at various southern cities in between.

Boy am I glad I caught them!

I'm all about experiencing new things and I'm happy I did. Imagine an electric fiddle, banjo, guitar and bass players absolutely rocking out on the stage of a garage bar.  (For a brief moment I thought I was back at the bird.)

It was beautiful, exciting, and truly worth my while.

My favorite part was their encore performance. They hopped off staged, stood in the center of the room, and played acoustically... Imagine everyone in the audience coming together, circling around them. If I had to describe it, I'd say it was the perfect portrait of a community coming together.

this is what community looks like.
I have Vanessa to thank for encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone (which is inside the Raleigh beltline) and venture all the way out to Durham.

Whether its a long car ride to Durham or starting a new blog, trying new things is the spice of life.

I encourage you to do the same.
