My love for the arts stems from a passion for dance. Ballet, tap, and jazz to be more specific.
Since moving to Raleigh, I've been lucky to have a handful of close friends who are heavily involved in the theater community here in town. It's been great hoping from show to show, almost monthly, to see the latest production. (see previous posts {here} and {here}...)
However, I've never experienced anything like "The Paper Hat Game" my friend Monet was involved in.

I had no idea what to expect when I was told it was a puppet show. All she pretty much said was that we would walk out of the show with "open eyes" and a "changed view of the world".
I must say, she was right.
The Paper Hat Game brings puppetry to a whole new, creative level unlike anything I have ever seen.

It's based on a true story in Chicago about a man who rode the public transit, and passed out paper hats to riders. It sparked a movement within the city, because the silliness that comes with wearing a paper hat actually brought about unity and joy among commuters.
As a champion for community, I am happy to say this show definitely portrayed the power of what one person can do: bring people together.

| A Day in Durham: Vanessa, Me, Monet |
There's only one weekend left to check it out at the Manbites Dog Theater in Durham. A must see for sure.
See more details {here}.

I enjoy exploring new cities, then sharing the treasures I find with others. I'm a connector and a believer. I think cupcakes make the world go 'round and could live off mac & cheese. It brings me joy to make others smile. I thrive off laughter, love, and good conversation. I'm a bit of a fashion bug who always supports the little guy. I like to inspire people to dream big and LIVE LARGE.

Very neat. love the pic of the puppeteers at work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carter -- great show ... and great day in Durham!
